Triangle of Sadness is a highly anticipated film that satirically focuses on the lives of the wealthy and powerful. At the film’s center is a celebrity couple invited on a glamorous cruise by the filthy rich of society, steered by one crazed boat captain. 

Things take a turn for the worst due to a storm: the protagonists, as well as the others on the cruise, are left stranded on an island trying to survive, and the power dynamics end up being shifted significantly.

Triangle of Sadness will be available for streaming on Hulu after the film’s theatrical release. Hulu and the film’s distributor, Neon, signed a multi-year deal in 2017 that sees Neon film’s exclusively head to streaming on Hulu. 

Viewers in the United Kingdom will likely stream Triangle of Sadness on BBC iPlayer as BBC Film was one of the film’s producers.

When will Triangle of Sadness be available to watch in cinemas?

The film, written and directed by Ruben Östlund, had its world premiere on 21st May 2022 at the Cannes Film Festival. The film was announced as the winner of the Palme d’Or award a week later, which did not come as a surprise based on the standing ovation it received after its premiere. Ruben previously won this award in 2017 with the film The Square, which debuted at the same festival. 

Triangle of Sadness is scheduled to be released in France on 28th September 2022, in the United States and Sweden on 7 October, in Germany on 13th October, and in the United Kingdom on 28th October. The film will make a stop at the Toronto International Film Festival before arriving in theaters in the United States.
