Who is Brian Houston’s wife Bobbie? Her family and controversies explored
Brian Houston has left Hillsong Church nearly four decades after founding the megachurch in Australia. The church, famed for its worship music and ability to attract celebrities, has locations in 30 churches worldwide.
Houston resigned after an internal investigation found him guilty of violating the Hillsong Pastor’s Code of Conduct twice in the past ten years. Brian was previously accused of concealing his father’s assault of a boy in the 1970s.
A statement from the board thanked Brian and his wife, Bobbie Houston, for their service to the church. “Irrespective of the circumstances around this, we can all agree that Brian and (wife) Bobbie have served God faithfully over many decades,” the church said.
Brian and Bobbie raised three children and have many grandchildren
Brian and Bobbie raised three children: Joel, Ben, and Laura. So far, their kids have blessed them with eight grandkids: five granddaughters and three grandsons.
In mid-March 2022, Bobbie posted a photo of three generations of the Houston family alongside the following caption:
“I love these girls. Mamma. Daughter, Grandmama/Grammie. Passes in a flash. Determined to make more time to smell the roses with my five granddaughters and three grandsons. Family.”
Bobbie and Brian have been married for decades and are still very much in love. Brian posted the following message alongside a photo of Bobbie on Valentine’s Day 2022:
“SWEET VALENTINE… I met her when we were teenagers. 3 children, 3 spouses, 8 grandchildren later… I love her more than ever!”
Bobbie used controversial terms to explain how to maintain a marriage
Bobbie has maintained a public marriage for decades, so she knows what it takes to sustain a healthy union. However, she might need to change how she relays her advice.
In a 2003 recording called Kingdom Women Love and Value their Sexuality, Bobbie talked about maintaining an active sex life with her husband. She explained that staying fit allowed her to remain mobile in the bedroom, leading to a better experience. She said:
“If I carry weight I feel like a retard, how are you going to do anything to surprise your man when you need a hydraulic crane just to turn over in bed?” Bobbie shockingly asked.
Bobbie encouraged women to explore plastic surgery if it boosted their confidence. She also talked up the value of pelvic exercises:
“Have plastic surgery if it makes you feel better and it is for the right reasons, and girls, pelvic floor exercise – can you believe I am saying this? You know, I have heard that orgasm is not as strong if you are really sloppy in that area.”
Houston clarified that people should keep sex ‘within the confines of marriage.’ She then encouraged women to do what it takes to minimize the effects of aging.
“Minimize the negative of ageing, ageing does strange things to us,” she said. “It discolors your teeth. Things sag when you get older. Old people’s habits, don’t go there before you have to. Who cares if you have a face lift, but do it for the right reason.”
